On this website I reflect on some topics that shaped my life. Each page provides an overview of the subject I reflect upon. The Menu bar gets you straight to various subjects. The Index (last update 2024-01-30) gives you an overview of the contents. I am working on adding buttons etc so that all the scrolling won’t be necessary any longer. I crossed this path through a shallow creek many times with a mule loaded with cheese, butter and ricotta we made on the Alp. Each slab of granite made a different sound under hooves of the mule. Every time the mule made a slightly different melody and the reflections in the water continually changed. “Pantha Rhei”, Everything flows.

Reflections may provide some deeper insights even though they are literally superficial, “exist” only on the plain that reflects the object (or subject) and can vary depending on the wind, or on the angle and point of view. While I might share some data or facts about acoustics and other topics, I make no scientific claims. The data shared are to be seen as food for reflection and perhaps further research. My claims are based on my experience (and some knowledge). They say: “hindsight is 20/20” which may be so, but we should not assume that this hindsight gives us the whole picture.
I was born 1950 near Basel, Switzerland as the fifth of seven children. Both my parents were musicians and music teachers. A few of their siblings and some of my cousins as well as all my siblings were/are musicians, some of them professional, some accomplished amateurs.
I have a few music degrees, a diploma in theology, a certification for community mental health work. Between 1964 and 2017 I worked as Organist. I taught music in many formats from preschool to university levels, performed in twelve countries on three continents, and alongside at various times, worked as a music therapist, wood turner, owned and operated a farm and a bakery. Now I am fully retired and enjoy life without pressure. I play a lot of music and go for walks and e-biking through the country side whenever the weather allows it. The most freeing part of my retirement is that I also retired from ambition. I feel however, that music is among other things a means to communicate. Hence the creation of this website. I hope the visitors will enjoy some of what I will be sharing in the following pages.
